In the winter semester, students learn about selected language phenomena in the area of English phonetics and phonology. In the summer semester, they will also learn about selected varieties of English, basic notions in morphology and word formation processes.

Pronunciation practice aimed at developing students’ skills in correctly articulating the vowels, diphthongs and consonants of the English language, as well as some elements of connected speech. The classes incorporate practical exercises in producing and distinguishing between the phonemes, listening comprehension, rhythm, accentuation and intonation.

(in Polish) Practical English is an integrated subject, as demonstrated in the accompanying Moodle course. The aim of the three constituent classes is to improve students’ language proficiency with reference to all the language competencies viewed holistically, to a consistent B2 level (according to the CEFR – the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). The students' level and progress will be regularly assessed against the benchmark of the First Certificate in English exams.
