The aim of the MA seminar is to guide the students through the process of writing and editing individual MA projects as well as developing their research interests and skills in such fields as literature, culture, linguistics, translation studies, or editing studies. Each student can select one MA seminar group notwithstanding the major MA programme, which means that, for example, the MA seminar in literature and culture can be taken by a student who pursues the Translation Studies programme.

(in Polish) The composite course aims at developing students' language skills at level C1+ according to the CEFR and consists of two modules, i.e. ‘Academic Listening and Speaking ’ and ‘Grammar and Vocabulary’. The two modules complete each other with the aim to developing students’ integrated skills in relation to academic English.

During the Academic Listening and Speaking class, students intensively practice using spoken English to achieve communicative accuracy, as well as increasing fluency and appropriacy in the academic English register, as well as maintain grammatical and lexical accuracy, in order to reach level C1+.

During the Grammar and Vocabulary class, students practice their grammatical and lexical competence at level C1+ with reference to academic English to improve their language performance in giving academic presentations.

The course discusses selected issues in the translation of LSP texts related to the medium (translation of audiovisual and interactive texts), the content of the message and the addressee. Students will be required to analyze and translate texts from selected areas into Polish and English.

--- Winter semester ---

The course will discuss constrained translation, with specific focus on translating audiovisual and interactive materials. Students will prepare translations for use in subtitling, voice-over, and software localization.
