American classics on screen

The main aim of the seminar is to explore a selection of American literary classics which have been turned into films. In some cases two or three different film adaptations of the same narrative will be presented and compared. While the question of faithfulness to the original is not the main issue, the seminar addresses some of the perennial questions of film adaptation, including the question of the forms and purposes of film makers’ creative intervention.
