The seminar will help students choose an appropriate topic, select a fitting methodological approach and prepare them for delivering a comprehansive analysis of the selected works of literature.

The scope of the content of the lecture is dictated by the need to provide a sense of order and integration to students’ declarative (encyclopedic) knowledge that is broadly referred to as ‘philological’ (i.e. having < logos> as its principle core) on a number of levels: general semiotics, description of language, cognitive and textual linguistics – and potential applications in the analysis of meaning construction in culture, in visual and textual dimensions (including journalism and literary expression).
