Short description: |
The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the basic institutions of law and principles of the law that is in force in the world with special emphasis put on topics ranging from public international law of trade to private international law of trade to certain aspects of international commercial law and the law of international finance and investment. The most important regulations affecting the functioning of society and the economy, as well as individuals, including entrepreneurs, in the international business environment will be presented. |

Lecture: I. Analysis of the legal foundations of the international economy (term and evolution of international economic law, international law and international economic governance, globalization perspective). II. Fundamental principles of international economic law. III. Institutional structure of international economic law. GATT and WTO law. IV. Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property. Exercises: I. Legal implications of the changing roles of international economic institutions in both global and regional contexts. The role international institutions and its law – influence on national law systems. Role of mega-regional-agreements like CETA, TTIP, and TPP. II. Selected issues of public and private international law of trade, finance and investment. III. The EU law and conditions of conducting business in the EU countries. |
