The aim of the seminar is to expand students’ knowledge, skills and social competences in the field of 20th century literature and culture in English.

The aim of the seminar is to expand students’ knowledge, skills and social competences in the field of 20th century literature and culture in English. The discussion will focus on means of remembering and representing the past. Starting with the concepts of memory and remembrance, the students will explore the problematic aspects of remembering traumatic events, such as wars, conflicts, oppression. The discussion will be inspired by theoretical essays, monuments and memorials, as well as selected novels, poems and short stories from English-speaking countries.
