Efekty uczenia się - wiedza:	(tylko po angielsku) W1: The graduate has better knowledge of the historical, social, and cultural context of American horror fiction texts within cultural area of North America and areas of its cultural influence exchange (K_W12). W2: The graduate has better knowledge of the broadely understood literary theory research tools (K_W07).
Efekty uczenia się - umiejętności:	(tylko po angielsku) U1: The graduate is able to independently gather knowledge and develop research skills through reading, study and Internet sources, as well as independetly broaden the knowledge of the discussed issues (K_U17, K_U08). U2: The graduate is also able to form arguments reffering to ideas expressed by other scholars as well as to draw conclusoins (K_U16).

Skrócony opis:	(tylko po angielsku) The goals of the course include: → a comprehensive description of contemporary American horror texts (selected examples of literature, cinema and digital games texts) → a discussion on the influence of American mainstream horror cinema texts on texts originating from other cultures and media in terms of aesthetics and content → a discussion on characteristic features and elements of the American horror genre, the manipulation of those elements as well as the reception of those elements (tropes)
Pełny opis:	(tylko po angielsku) The course aims at broadening the students' knowledge and comprehension of the form, influence and reception of American mainstream horror cinema. Throughout the duration of the course the following issues will be discussed: the basic elements of American mainstream horror cinema (including adaptations and remakes of films produced in America as well as in other countries); the influence of American horror texts (the so-called holywoodisation of non-American horror films); the manner in which the producers of horror texts manipulate the genre elements and trademarks, as well as the reception of those trademarks (tropes) by the audience.
