Efekty uczenia się - umiejętności: | The student: U1: is able to gain and deepen their knowledge of intercultural competence and develop their research skills on their U2: is able to refer to scholars’ opinions relating to intercultural competence as well as to draw conclusions U3: is able to conduct a preliminary search of library holdings, use databases and the Internet, prepare a list of references, add notes with due care as to the copyright, format documents using a word processor and make a presentation on intercultural competence |

The course is devoted to the role of intercultural competence in foreign language education. Students will be familiarized with the notion of intercultural competence, its role in cross-cultural communication and foreign language education. |

The course will focus on the following aspects referring to intercultural competence: - What is intercultural competences? Are we interculturally competent? What is the difference between cultural and intercultural competence? - models of intercultural competence - stereotypes vs. Intercultural competence - the role of critical cultural incidents - cultural differences in communication - English as a lingua franca - Techniques of developing intercultural competence - the role of intercultural competence in learning a foreign language (the CEFR, intercultural competence and communicative approach) - evaluation of coursebooks for English as a foreign language in light of intercultural competence - students’ presentation |

Methods of assessment: - presentation (W1, W2, U1, U2, U3) Assessment criteria: - choice of the topic – 0-5 points - content – 0-5 points - structure of the presentation – 0-5 points - language of the presentation – 0-5 points - interest – 0-5 pkt. 60-69% – 3 70-75% – 3+ 76-85% – 4 86-90% - 4+ 91-10%% – 5 The teacher as well as the students will be assessing the presentations. The weight of the value will be as follows: 90% of the final grade – the teacher’s evaluation 5% of the final grade – other students’ evaluation 5% of the final grade – the students’ self-evaluation |
