Skrócony opis: |
The course will apply key paradigms within translation studies (linguistic view on translation, functionalist theories of translation, descriptive translation theories, cultural turn in translation studies, translation and ideology) to literary translation. Students will produce, examine and evaluate translation of literary texts, developing skills in critical translation analysis. |
Pełny opis: |
The course will discuss distinctive features of literary translation as challenges demanding research skills (to understand and interpret the source text) and creativity (to compensate for literary effects lost in the process of translation). In the summer semester students will work on individually assigned projects, translating literary texts or reviewing and analyzing translations relevant to their MA subject and area of academic interest. |
