Skrócony opis: |
The course will apply key paradigms within translation studies (linguistic view on translation, functionalist theories of translation, descriptive translation theories, cultural turn in translation studies, translation and ideology) to the translation and localization of polysemiotic texts. Students will produce, examine and evaluate translations, developing skills in critical translation analysis. |

The course will discuss distinctive features of constrained translation as challenges demanding research skills (to understand and interpret the source text) and creativity (to compensate for effects lost in the process of translation due to technical restrictions). In the summer semester students will work on individually assigned projects, translating texts or reviewing and analyzing translations relevant to their MA subject and area of academic interest. |
