Skrócony opis:

The goal of the MA seminar in linguistics (Image and meaning construction in the language of the public sphere) is to provide the students with the basic tools for the analysis of public discourse public sphere, in such domains as journalism, politics, sport, art, music, etc. In term one is to carry out a thorough revision of theoretical distinctions and methodological prerequisites, and a consolidation of the above elements towards the materialization of a selected research project.

• A thorough revision of terminological distinctions regarding descriptive linguistics, and also the introduction of relevant conceptual frameworks of textual analysis, linguistic pragmatics and cognitive linguistics.

• The explanation of the guiding principles concerning research methodology (scope/domain and object[s] of study, theoretical perspective[s]).
