(tylko po angielsku) This course prepares students for the application of mathematics in a business context. This course prepares for the application of mathematical tools, techniques, and principles to the real-world. Topics include matrix algebra, system of linear equations, function of one variable and of several real variables, derivative, integration. |

(tylko po angielsku) Topic 1. Introduction to Matrix Algebra: Matrix addition, subtraction and multiplication. Trace of a Matrix. Determinant of a Matrix. Matrix inverse. Rank of a matrix. Inverse matrix. W1, K1. Topic 2. System of linear equations: Matrix Representation of a Linear System. Solving a system of linear equations. Cramer's rule. Kronecker-Cappelli Theorem. Gaussian elimination. Systems of linear homogeneous equations. W1, U1, K2. Topic 3. Function of one variable: Topics include linear and quadratic functions, polynomial, exponential and logarithmic function. Properties of functions (ex. monotone, inverse functions, convex, concave). Limit and continuity. Continuity of the elementary functions. Derivative – definition. Extreme Points. W1, K1. Topic 4. Function of several real variables: Partial Derivatives. Gradient and Hessian matrix. Extreme Values and Saddle Points. W1, U1.K2. Lectures – exam fail < 10 pts (<50%) satisfactory- 10-12 pts (50-60%) satisfactory plus- 12,5-14 pts (60-70%) good – 14,5-16 pts (70-80%) good plus- 16,5 - 18 pts (80-90%) very good- 18,5-20 pts (90-100%) II. Exercises - two tests (25 points + 25 points = 50 points) fail < 25 pts (<50%) satisfactory- 26-30 pts (50-60%) satisfactory plus- 30,5-35 pts (60-70%) good – 35,5-40 pts (70-80%) good plus- 40,5 - 45 pts (80-90%) very good- 45,5-50 pts (90-100%) |
