Student:

Student:

K1: can use in the process of problem solving, solutions that exist in economic reality (K_K01)

Skrócony opis:

This course explores the current thinking and practice of responsible tourism and event management. This is an industry relevant course, which delivers an applied yet holistic view of the tourism and event industry, sustainability and development.

Pełny opis:

The course is organised around three main sections with lectures and literature seminars.

The first section introduces the concepts of CSR and sustainable development in a tourism and event context.

The second section explores how the tourist and event industry (for example hotels, tour operators and the transport industry) has started applying the concepts of CSR and sustainability.

The third section addresses the consumer perspective focusing on the tourist and the event visitor and their responsibilities.

Werther, W. B. & Chandler, D. (2011). Strategic corporate social responsibility. Thousand Oaks, CA: Sage.

The course also requires you to read several journal articles and to view videos

Metody i kryteria oceniania:

Lecture: written exam, test form with additional open questions.

Practical class: group project - 30% of final grade, written assignments (to discuss or analyze key course concepts) - 30% of final grade and final paper (which will be an opportunity to synthesize and then demonstrate what student have learned in this course - worth 40% of the final grade.

Assessment criteria:

The following assessment scale is applied:

fail- 0-59 pts (0-59%)

satisfactory- 60-67 pts (60-67%)

satisfactory plus- 68-75 pts (68-75%)

good- 76-83 pts (76-83%)

good plus- 84-91 pts (84-91%)

very good- 92-100 pts (92-100%)
