Wymagania wstępne:

(tylko po angielsku) The student should have knowledge of: internal diseases, pediatrics, general surgery, prevention of civilization and cancer diseases, geriatric problems implemented in primary care.

In addition, he should have basic knowledge of the doctor's communication with the patient.

- participation in seminars: 35 hours;

- participation in tutorials: 35 hours;

- consultations: 5 hours;

- preparation for the exam and exam: 11 hours + 1 hours = 12 hours;

The workload associated with classes requiring direct participation of academic teachers is 87 hours, corresponding to 2,9 ECTS credits.


2. Study hours involving individual student work:

- participation in seminars - 35 hours;

- participation in tutorials - 35 hours;

- preparation for seminars and tutorials: 8 hours;

- reading of the indicated scientific literature: 25 hours;

- consultations: 5 hours;

- preparation for the exam and exam – 11 + 1 = 12 hours;

The total student workload is 120 hours, which corresponds to 4 ECTS credits.

The course objective is:

- to familiarise students with the principles of family medicine, the role of a family doctor in the healthcare system;

- to expand theoretical foundations and practical skills within family medicine;

- to familiarise students with the scope of family doctor competences, the role of a family doctor in the healthcare system;

- to integrate the theoretical and clinical knowledge and use it in ambulatory conditions.

Pełny opis: (tylko po angielsku)

Tutorials concern to the analysis of clinical cases in a family doctor practice (patients with infections, diabetic patients, diseases of internal origin) and provide students the knowledge of principles patient - doctor communication.

Seminars provide students the knowledge in the field:

- Respiratory tract infections. Vaccination. Smoking cessation.

- Problems of elderly patients. Reasons why patients seek the help of a family doctor.

- Anticoagulant therapy in Family Practice.

- Diabetes mellitus type 2 in primary care. Obesity-epidemiology, diagnosis and treatment. Prevention of overweight and obesity. Principles of a healthy lifestyle. Urinary tract infections in primary care.

- Hypertension and hyperlipidemia in the practice of family doctor. CVD prevention in general practice. Cancer prevention in primary care.

The objective of family medicine classes is to shape the doctor’s attitude that is desired in family practice as well as to familiarise student with general practice. Direct contact with the patient in doctor’s practice gives the possibility of learning epidemiology of the most common problems and the ways of solving them.

During the classes in the family doctor’s office students use in practice the knowledge gained in the previous years of studies. Under the supervision of an assistant they conduct an interview and physical examination of the patient, give an initial diagnosis, propose potential diagnostic tests and treatment.

Metody i kryteria oceniania: (tylko po angielsku)

The condition for passing the seminars and exercises is to actively participate in the scheduled activities and pass the practical skills (passing the practical assessment system 0-1). During the exercises, extended student observation is carried out in order to determine the assessment of social competences (pass> 60%). All absences the student is required to pass in the form indicated by the teacher (oral or written form). In the case of clinical exercises with the participation of the patient, the student is obliged to make up the absence on another date indicated by the teacher. The condition to take the exam is to pass the didactic classes in accordance with the assumed effects of education.

Practical test (grading system 0-1) W1, U1-U6;

Extended observation (> 60%) K1-K4;

Written exam in the form of a test (0-50 points, > 60%) W1-W9, U4-U6;

The final grade results from the percentage of points obtained during the written exam:

fail – 0 - 60%

satisfactory – 60% - 71%

satisfactory plus – 71% - 80%

good – 80% - 88%

good plus – 88% - 95%

very good – 95% - 100%
