W2 - Student describes acid-base balance and the mechanisms of buffer actions, and understand its influence on the perioperative management and intensive care treatment(B K_W02)

W3 - Student knows the functions and mechanisms of regulation of organs in normal conditions, understands the influence exerted on them by anesthesia, in particular on the circulatory system and the respiratory system.(B K_W25)

W4 - The student has the basic knowledge to diagnose, differentiate and treat shock. with special regard to the various causes of shock and multiple organ failure(C K_W28)

W5 - Student knows the major mechanisms of drug action and the course of drug distribution in the organism depending on age(C K_W35)

W6 - Student knows the most common life-threatening conditions in children and the rules of conduct in these conditions in anesthesiology and intensive care(E K_W06)

W7 - Student knows the principles of pain management, including cancer-related and chronic pain(E K_W29)

W8 - Student knows the principles of referring for and performing basic surgical procedures and invasive diagnostic and treatment procedures(F K_W03)

U2 - Student is able to select drugs in appropriate doses to correct pathological phenomena in the body and in individual organs, during general anesthesia and treatment in the intensive care unit(C K_U14)

U3 - Student is able to conduct a medical interview with an adult patient as part of preparation for anesthesia (premedication visit)(E K_U01)

U4 - Student is able to assess the general condition, state of consciousness and consciousness of the patient, including in the patient under the influence of sedative drugs(E K_U07)

U5 - Student is able to recognize the life-threatening conditions in anesthesiology and intensive therapy(E K_U14)

U6 - Student is able to plan diagnostic, therapeutic and prophylactic procedures in anaesthesiology and intensive therapy(E K_U16)

U7 - The student is able to use nutritional treatment, including enteral and parenteral nutrition in intensive therapy(E K_U25)

U8 - Student is able to perform basic medical procedures, including:

a) taking temperature and pulse, non-invasive pressure measurement

b) monitoring vital signs using a cardiac monitor, pulse oximeter

c) spirometry testing, oxygen therapy, adjuvant and mechanical ventilation

d) oropharyngeal airway insertion

e) intravascular, intramuscular and subcutaneous injection, peripheral venous cannulation, peripheral blood draw, blood culture draw, arterial blood draw, arterialised capillary blood draw

f) nasal, pharyngeal and skin swabbing, thoracentesis

g) urinary catheterisation in men and women, gastric probing, gastric lavage, enema

h) standard resting electrocardiogram with interpretation, electrical cardioversion, defibrillation

i) basic strip tests and blood glucose level tests(E K_U29)

U9 - Student is able to monitor the condition of a patient poisoned with chemicals or drugs in anesthesiology and intensive therapy(E K_U34)

U10 - Student is able to recognize the patient's agony and confirm his death in the conditions of intensive therapy(E K_U37)

U11 - Student is able to perform basic resuscitation procedures with the use of an external defibrillator and other basic rescue activities in the perioperative period(F K_U10)

U12 - Student is able to operate in accordance with the algorithm of advanced life support, with particular emphasis on the conditions of the operating room(F K_U11)

U13 - Student is able to monitor the patient's condition in the postoperative period based on the basic life parameters in the conditions of the supervision room after anesthesia(F K_U12)

U14 - Student identifies subjective and objective symptoms indicating a pathological course of pregnancy (abnormal bleeding, abnormal uterine contractions)(F K_U13)

The student will receive a credit for the course, obtaining positive test results and a positive assessment in the field of social competences, which is a condition for taking the exam.

Skrócony opis:

The aim of the course is to teach the rules of performing various types of anesthesia for various surgical procedures, handling the patient in the perioperative period, using specialized methods of treatment in the intensive care unit, and treating basic life-threatening conditions.

Pełny opis:

Students acquire knowledge of the subject, based on their preclinical and clinical knowledge in the field. During clinical practice in the operating suite, students get acquire with the specific organization and working in the operating theatre. Students also participate passively and actively in some medical procedures under attending physician, particularly in range: mechanical ventilation, airway management, basic and advanced hemodynamic monitoring, as well as vein cannulation. Getting the knowledge of volatile and intravenous anesthetics influence on central nervous system, circulatory and respiratory

system. Evaluation patients condition with algorithm of preceding in particular clinical situation. Learn the basic issues in conducting therapy in the intensive care unit, especially different kinds of shock.

Regional anesthesia: spinal, epidural, local anesthetics. Perioperative management of patients scheduled

for differents kinds of surgery. Basic and advanced life support are also the part of conducted tutorials.
