  • roczny wymiar godzinowy nakładu pracy studenta konieczny do osiągnięcia zakładanych efektów uczenia się dla danego etapu studiów wynosi 1500-1800 h, co odpowiada 60 ECTS;
  • tygodniowy wymiar godzinowy nakładu pracy studenta wynosi 45 h;

Wymagania wstępne:

(tylko po angielsku) Student is expected to have knowledge of basic (preclinical) sciences (in particular: anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology, genetics, pharmacology, laboratory diagnostics, immunology, pathology, microbiology) and knowledge and skills in the basics of paediatrics: healthy child development, physical examination of a healthy child, nutrition of a child, medical care for healthy children)

- lectures: 50 hours

- seminars: 30 hours

- final examination (test exam): 3 hours

Total workload involving teacher participation is 130 hours (4,43 ECTS points).

W3: is familiar with the principles of professional care for healthy and ill children and adolescents (feeding, vaccination, medical check-up) with particular emphasis on metabolic errors and immune disorders (E.W02)

W4: is familiar with principles of nutrition of healthy and ill children considering the latest recommendations (E.W02)

W5: explains the dietary treatment of children with GI tract diseases, malnutrition, nutritional deficiencies, metabolic disorders and diabetes (E.W02)

W6: justifies the use of elimination diet in children with food allergy (E.W02)

W7: knows the causes, symptoms, principles of diagnosing and treatment of most common diseases of childhood in the field gastroenterology, allergology, inborn metabolic errors, paediatric cardiology, paediatric nephrology, endocrine disorders, respiratory system diseases, immunology, connective tissue diseases, paediatric oncology and haematology, paediatric neurology (E.W03)

W8: describes common problems related to behaviour disturbances, mental disabilities and sleep disturbances (E.W04)

W9: enumerates the most common life-threatening conditions and procedures for treating them in paediatric pulmonary diseases, paediatric haematology & oncology, cardiology, nephrology, neurology, metabolic errors, GI tract diseases, allergology and endocrinology (E.W06)

W10: knows causes, symptoms, and principles of diagnosis and treatment of the most common hereditary diseases (E.W37)

The subject of the course deals with selected issues of developmental age and aims to familiarize with the most common diseases in the field of allergology, gastroenterology, haematology and paediatric oncology, nephrology, pulmonary diseases, immunology, cardiology, paediatric neurology and endocrinology and basic knowledge of metabolic diseases.

During the classes, students improve the skills of recognising, diagnosing and treatment of childhood diseases, and the skills of communication with the paediatric patient and its parents.

The subject of the course deals with selected issues of developmental age and aims to familiarize with the childhood diseases in the field of:

- allergology

- gastroenterology

- pulmonology

- clinical immunology

- cardiology

- endocrinology and diabetology

- haematology and oncology

- nephrology

- neurology

- metabolic errors and inherited conditions

During the tutorials, students have direct contact with paediatric patients and their parents and improve the skills of examination of a child. At the same time, they train communication with a paediatric patient and its parents. They practice the skills of recognising, diagnosing, differentiation and treatment of most common diseases of childhood.

Students also have the opportunity to observe and participate in the work of a paediatrician in the inpatient and outpatient facility setting, and learn about the practical application of laboratory, microbiological, genetic, immunological and imaging diagnostics in specific patients.

Metody i kryteria oceniania: (tylko po angielsku)

Credit in form of practical exam (0-22 pts., >60%): W2, W4-W7, W9, U1-U20, K1-K, K6

1. Once the subject module is completed, a student can take the practical part of the final examination. The date is agreed with the examiner individually. Students are assigned to examiners randomly, considering the equal numbers of students per examiner. Examiners are tutors of the Department of Paediatrics, Haematology and Oncology and the Department of Paediatrics, Allergology and Gastroenterology.

2. The practical part is scored from 0 to 22 points total, including the following topics:

- communication with the patient and attitude towards the patient and parents (0-2 points)

- taking the medical history (0-4 points)

- physical examination (0-4 points)

- planning of diagnostic procedures and interpretation of diagnostic tests (0-4 points)

- stating the diagnosis with differential diagnosis (0-4 points)

- planning of the treatment and prognosis assessment (0-4 points)

3. To credit the practical part a student must collect at least 13 points (60% of total) having non-zero score for every topic.

4. The result is included in the final score (together with the end-of-module text examination result).
