  • roczny wymiar godzinowy nakładu pracy studenta konieczny do osiągnięcia zakładanych efektów uczenia się dla danego etapu studiów wynosi 1500-1800 h, co odpowiada 60 ECTS;
  • tygodniowy wymiar godzinowy nakładu pracy studenta wynosi 45 h;
  • 1 punkt ECTS odpowiada 25-30 godzinom pracy studenta potrzebnej do osiągnięcia zakładanych efektów uczenia się;

Wymagania wstępne:

The student entering the paediatric nursing course should have knowledge of: ethics of the midwifery profession, human anatomy and physiology, pathology, physical examination, hygiene and epidemiology, microbiology and parasitology, fundamentals of nursing, pharmacology, radiology, psychology,

health promotion.


Całkowity nakład pracy studenta:

1. Effort work related to z activities requiring direct participation of academic staff shall be:

- participation in lectures: 15 h

- participation in practical classes: 40 h (10h at CSM)

- consultations related to the preparation of the self-study: 15 h

- conducting the theoretical exam: 5 h

The workload related to activities requiring direct participation of academic staff is 75 h, which corresponds to 3 ECTS credits.

Skrócony opis:

The subject of paediatric nursing aims to familiarise and prepare students to master theoretical and practical knowledge of the specific paediatric care of the child in selected pathological conditions.

To provide students with an understanding of the aims and principles of specialist paediatric care based on current recommendations, standards and procedures.

To acquire skills in performing nursing, diagnostic, therapeutic, rehabilitative and preventive procedures in paediatric care. To be able to communicate with the child and their parents to gather information to identify problems

of health to the extent that the nursing process of the child can be reasonably planned and implemented, respecting the principles of

code of professional ethics.

Pełny opis:

Paediatric nursing lectures cover topics in preventive action phase I, II and III in the developmental age population - neonatal and infant period and nursing care of the child in the most common diseases of the respiratory, urinary, gastrointestinal, nervous system, allergic, infectious, metabolic diseases and deficiency states.

Practical training in paediatric nursing includes topics in: child and parent reactions to hospitalisation; communicating with the child and their parents to the extent that information can be gathered to recognise the child's health problems in the most common acute respiratory, cardiovascular, urinary, gastrointestinal diseases, allergic diseases, infectious diseases, metabolic diseases and deficiency conditions, in accordance with professional ethics.

The professional practice in paediatric nursing includes topics in: child and parent reactions to hospitalisation; communicating with the child and his/her parents to the extent of gathering information to identify health problems and planning the child's care in the most common chronic diseases of the respiratory system, cardiovascular system, urinary system, gastrointestinal system, nervous system, allergic diseases, infectious diseases, metabolic diseases and deficient conditions, in accordance with professional ethics.

The self-study in paediatric nursing includes topics in: phase III preventive measures in the developmental age population; supporting chronically ill children and their families, based on current professional knowledge.

Assessment methods and criteria The prerequisite for passing the course is:

1. 100% attendance at lectures, practical classes, work placements and positive student attitude.

2. Working off excused absences

and unexcused in a form agreed with the lecturer.

3. Extended teacher observation: K1 (0-10 points, >50%).

4. Peer assessment: K1 (0-10 points, >50%)

5. Completion of self-study : based on the completion of a written study of a selected topic. Work in the form of an essay and/or multimedia presentation and implementation of the nursing process handed in on time.

6 Final test (MCQ test - one correct answer - 4 distractors), covers content from: lectures and practical classes;

-obtaining 60% correct answers on the final test,

- final grade scale depending on the scores, student results are converted into grades according to internal

regulations adopted in the units providing the studies:

60 % - 67% = 3,0

68% - 75% = 3,5

76% - 83% = 4,0

84% - 91% = 4,5

92% - 100% = 5,0.

Correction session credit - correction test (min. 60% correct answers for a sufficient grade).

Praktyki zawodowe:

The mid-year apprenticeship takes place at the University Hospital and is led by mentors in accordance with the Apprenticeship Regulations.

The dates of the work placement are in accordance with the study plans and do not interfere with the classes scheduled in the teaching schedules.

Supervision of the internship is exercised by the teaching supervisor and the faculty internship coordinator.

2. Principles of nursing care for the child with acute otitis media.

3. Nutrition of healthy and sick children. Natural feeding. Artificial feeding. Scheme of artificial feeding of infants and young children.

4. Feeding the sick infant: elimination diets, supplementation diets for the malnourished child, diets for diarrhoea. Conditions associated with nutritional deficiencies: deficiency anaemia, rickets

5. Nursing care of the child with urinary excretion disorders.

6. Nursing care of the child with water-electrolyte and thermoregulatory disorders.

7. Nursing care for the child in pain.

8. Nursing care of the child with skin and mucosal lesions.

9. Nursing care of a child with an infectious disease - with skin lesions.

Scenario : Admission of a child to hospital with symptoms of respiratory inflammation , dyspnoea, high body temperature. (Administering oxygen, measuring saturation, giving inhalation, inserting a peripheral line, connecting a drip infusion, lowering body temperature).
