Skrócony opis: (tylko po angielsku)

The seminar aims to make the students familiar with the most recent developments in American fragmentary fiction. In the course of the seminar the students will study the various types and degrees of fragmentation on the example of David Foster Wallace’s prose. The author’s early work utilizes the characteristically postmodern poetics of fragmentation, to develop a unique method of using fragmentation within the movement of New Sincerity in his mature years. The classes will culminate with the analysis of the author’s last, incomplete novel, The Pale King, which brings together the different aspects of fragmentation, and itself, being incomplete, entices a deeper reflection on fragmentation in narrative.
