English text editing and typography

The course comprises exercises which aim at gaining knowledge and skills concerning the use of editing and typography in English texts. In the first semester, subjects comprise a discussion of various kinds of text publications, the analysis and edition of a book structure and layout, digital publications, font types, and the connection between editing and typography.

A graded credit on the basis of the assignments assessing the level of achieving particular learning outcomes:

In-class assignment - W1, W2 (50%)

In-class task completion and presentation – W1, W2, U1, K1 (50%)

Assessment criteria:

fail – 0-59 %

satisfactory – 60-69 %

satisfactory plus – 70-75 %

good – 76-85 %

good plus – 86-90 %

very good – 91-100 %

In the winter semester of 2020/2021, classes will be conducted online in a synchronous mode (via Microsoft Teams) and on Moodle platform.
