The seminar offers an overview of a range of critical approaches to the study of mass media, film and new media. The aim of the seminar is to develop reading and research skills connected with media studies, and to provide students with the analytical tools to analyze various media texts and practices.

The course will discuss distinctive features of constrained translation as challenges demanding research skills (to understand and interpret the source text) and creativity (to compensate for effects lost in the process of translation due to technical restrictions).
