The aims of Specialisation Seminar II are: - to apply the paradigm of the chosen discipline to situations outside academic context, and demonstrate its practical applications, - to develop skills connected with communicating research in the chosen field of study to a broader audience. |

Students select a seminar matching their choice of the MA seminar and prospective MA topic. Sample subjects include translation studies, applied linguistics, analysis of literary texts, methodology of teaching English as a foreign language, text editing. Sample content distribution: Introduction to a given field of literary/linguistic research Research-based / theme-based / problem-based work Assignments Presentation of projects Feedback and conclusion |

The seminar will complement a lecture in literary studies and discuss issues in literary analysis and stylistics of literary texts. | |
Pełny opis: |
The seminar will cover: - techniques of close reading, - literary uses of typography and layout, - the literary use of sound symbolism and sound effects, - wordplay and verbal humour, - rhythm and rhyme in poetry and prose, - diction in literary texts, - the notion of literary style and mind style, - techniques of characterization, - narrative techniques. The above list may be modified to fit the prospective MA topics researched by the students. Students will be graded on the basis of: - a test involving the analysis of previously unfamiliar excerpts from literary works with the use of specialised terminology (50%) - in-class work and analysis of selected excerpts of a literary work presented in class (50%) | |
