Efekty uczenia się - wiedza: | The student: W1: has knowledge of academic English at B2+ level W2: knows how and when to use grammar structures at B2+ level and within the scope of the course content (the continuous and perfect aspect, use of articles, used to, would and get used to, causatives, verb patterns, gradable and ungradable adjectives, and reported speech) W3: has a knowledge of selected vocabulary at B2+ level (communication, reading, globalisation, arts and culture). |
Efekty uczenia się - umiejętności: | The student: U1: is able to produce oral utterances at B2+ level and by means of grammatical structures and lexical items acquired in the course. U2: is capable of producing English texts at B2 level and by means of grammatical structures and lexical items acquired in the course U3: Can participate in academic discussions on and about such issues as communication, reading, globalisation, arts and culture. |

The aim of the course is to explore a selection of topics from multicultural standpoints. |

The course aims to involve students in a discussion of topical issues from multicultural standpoints. It offers a variety of topics related to such areas as culture, communication, arts, films and literature, media and technology. Course activities will also include the use of grammar and vocabulary in academic contexts, both spoken and written. Students are welcome to share and exchange their ideas in a multicultural university environment and by means of communicative language skills and competencies in English, developed at CEFR B2 level (IELTS band: 6)." Assessment methods: 3 Written assignments (W1, W2, U1, U2, U3) Graded home assignments (U1, U2, U3) Class involvement and home assignments (K1, K2) Assessment criteria: fail - 0%-54% satisfactory - 55%-69% satisfactory plus - 70%-74% good - 75%-84% good plus - 85%-89% very good - 90%-100% The students are evaluated in accordance with the university regulations, and they must attend all course meetings. Informed participation in class discussions – based on completion of the assigned reading and supportive collaboration with classmates – is also required. Each class absence has to be excused in the first week after the lesson missed. The final grade percentage will be reduced by 10% for every unexcused absence. |
