W3: The graduate has in-depth knowledge of the intercultural context of contemporary Anglophone drama by women (K_W12). |
Efekty uczenia się - umiejętności: | (tylko po angielsku) U1: The graduate displays advanced argumentation skills and is able to refer to scholars’ opinions as well as to draw conclusions and prepare synthetic summaries in the field of drama studies (K_U13). U2: The graduate is able to formulate critical opinions about Anglophone drama and critical theories on the basis of academic knowledge and experience. The graduate is able to present their critical opinions on theatre and drama in various forms and media (K_U21). |

(tylko po angielsku) The seminar "From witchhunts to disability movement: themes in contemporary drama by women" offers an insight into the problems addressed by contemporary British, American and Canadian women playwrights. |

(tylko po angielsku) The seminar focuses on the cultural representations of identity, discrimination and marginalisation in contemporary Anglophone drama by women playwrights. It tries to approach drama and theatre as a significant platform for negotiating and discussing controversial issues. The topics addressed during the seminar include the representations of motherhood, the history of witchhunts, madness, disability, race as well as debates on violence and controversies over prostitution and pornography. Shelagh Delaney, Caryl Churchill, Sarah Kane, Sarah Daniels, Bryony Lavery, Timberlake Wertenbaker, Paula Vogel, Susan Nussbaum, Kay Adshead and Kim Morrissey are among the authors whose texts will be studied during the course. The learning outcomes include students’ increased awareness of the cultural significance of contemporary drama by women, students’ familiarity with critical approaches to the problems discussed therein as well as the ability to analyse and formulate critical opinions about the issues discussed in drama by women playwrights. |
