Skrócony opis: (tylko po angielsku)

This lab course concernes principles and applications of optoelectronic devices, focussing on fundamental issus like generation, transmittion and detection of light.

Pełny opis: (tylko po angielsku)

Optoelectronics laboratory is focused on the properties, applications, and characterization of various optical instruments. The course participants learn physical processes responsible for the generation and detection of light by semiconducting devices, especially modern light sources (LEDs, lasers) and photon detectors. Their properties are characterized experimentally by spectrally - and time-resolved techniques. A lot of emphases is put on techniques of modulation and transmission of light by nonlinear crystals and glass fibers. Each topic is widely discussed and experimentally illustrated by a personally arranged setup.

The list of tasks:

1. Photometry – spectroscopic measurements

2. Photometry – colorimetry

3. Optoelectronic detectors

4. Modulation of light

5. Semiconductor laser

6. Second-harmonic generation

7. Matrix methods in optics. Gaussian beams.

8. Optical fibers

Metody i kryteria oceniania: (tylko po angielsku)

The student is obligated to perform six experimental projects. Each project will be evaluated separately, taking into account: knowledge of the theoretical background – individual talk (40%), performance of the experiment, work diligence, engagement (30%), reporting – data analysis, and interpretations (30%). Total grade is an average of all six projects.

Grading scale:

< 50 % - 2 (ndst)

50-59 % - 3 (dst)

60-69 % - 3.5 (dst plus)

70-79 % - 4 (db)

80-89 % - 4.5 (db plus)

90-100 % - 5 (bdb)
