This course provides a comprehensive exploration of the legal and organizational aspects of managing sports events in both national and international contexts. It is designed for students interested in the intersection of law, sports management, and international governance, offering them both theoretical knowledge and practical insights. Course Objectives: The main objective of the course is to equip students with the ability to identify, understand, and apply key legal principles relevant to the planning, coordination, and execution of sports events. Special attention is given to the unique legal challenges that arise in sports-related contexts, such as international competition, large-scale public gatherings, athlete eligibility, and commercial partnerships. Key Topics Include: Event Management and Law – Introduction: Overview of legal frameworks relevant to the planning and execution of sports events, including contracts, liability, and regulatory compliance. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Sports Event Organization: The structure and function of the IOC, its influence on global sports law, and the legal requirements for organizing events under the Olympic Charter. International Law and Multi-Jurisdictional Events: Legal considerations when organizing events across borders or in international waters, including conflict of laws, jurisdictional challenges, and international treaties. Sponsorship and Ambush Marketing: Legal issues related to marketing rights, sponsorship agreements, and the protection of official event branding against unauthorized commercial exploitation. Mass Events under Polish Law: Polish legislation governing mass gatherings and public safety, including obligations of organizers, licensing procedures, and liability. Athlete Citizenship and Eligibility: Examination of how international sports federations regulate the citizenship and eligibility of athletes, and the legal implications for dual nationals or stateless persons. Public Procurement and Sports Events: Legal frameworks related to the acquisition of goods, services, and infrastructure necessary for organizing major sports events, with a focus on transparency, competition, and anti-corruption standards. |

Project: Case study solution, assessment depending on the complexity of the problem solution: - solving the problem without using literature sources: 3.0 - problem solving with the use of literature sources: 3.5 - solving the problem of presenting two scenarios: 4 - solving the problem with presenting two scenarios and an additional analysis tool: 4.5 - problem solving with the presentation of at least two scenarios (solutions), an analysis tool (scenario assessment) and the effects of solutions (+ good practices): 5.0 and/or test - types of questions: 1) true/false, 2) matching, 3) short answer 4) gap filling 3.0 – 51%-59,9%; 3.5 – 60%-69,9%; 4.0 – 70%-79,9%; 4.5 – 80%-89,9%; 5.0 – 90%-100% |
