Efekty uczenia się - wiedza:

Student:

– W1: has thorough knowledge about the place and significance of classical archaeology within the system sciences and the importance role of ancient cultures in the history of Europe;

– W2: knows the terminology used in the study of classical archaeology with particular emphasis on the Greek and Roman cultures in the context of interdisciplinary research;

– W3: knows changing methods of analysis and interpretation of various categories of archaeological sources, obtained during interdisciplinary research.

Efekty uczenia się - umiejętności:

Student:

– U1: is able to search, analyze, evaluate, select and use information from various sources, for research on the relationship between ancient cultures;

– U2: know how to use basic theories, research paradigms and concepts relevant to the archeology of ancient disciplines and those from other areas, which are an integral part of classical archaeology;

– U3: is able to recognize different types of cultural products appropriate to the archeology of antiquity and carry out their critical analysis and interpretation using conventional methods, to determine their content and meanings, including culture membership and functions.

Efekty uczenia się - kompetencje społeczne:

Student:

– K1: shows independent and individual thinking, understanding and respecting other people’s right to the above;

– K2: is well prepared to interpret the past on the basis of archaeological finds and knows how to combine the findings of archaeologists with the effects of research by historians and other sciences;

– K3: will have awareness of the importance of archaeological heritage;

– K4: will be able to present academic arguments and defend them in the discussion.

Expository teaching methods:

– discussion seminar assisted with multimedia presentations; introduction to each topic by a short lecture.

Skrócony opis:

Will be discussed the issues concerning ancient heritage in Europe. Students will be introduced with the most important architectural monuments – sacred, secular and defense related to these epoch, especially at Mediterranean and Black Sea Region.

Pełny opis:

The aim of the course is to introduce students to a variety of issues concerning the classical archeology. The course will be different aspects of everyday life of the Greeks, Romans and socio-economic issues associated with the development of civilization. Topics will cover the material sphere of life (ceramics, terracotta, objects made of metal), issues related to construction and transport (architectural orders, the most important buildings, the spatial distribution of cities, ports, transport), as well as areas affecting the sphere of religious and social (rites funeral and religious cults seen through the prism of available sources, sculpture). The lecture will focus on the archaeological context of the pending problems. For descriptions will be used for all types of sources. This will allow students to become acquainted with the study of ancient culture, closer terminology and show skillful use of both sources of material, epigraphic and written in the study of the archeology of ancient Europe.
