Całkowity nakład pracy studenta: | Contact hours with teacher: – participation in discussion seminar – 15 hrs. Self-study hours: – preparation to presentations for seminar – 25 hrs; – writing essays – 20 hrs; – preparation of research trips to selected objects of architecture –25. Altogether: 85 hrs (3 ECTS) |
Efekty uczenia się - wiedza: | Student: Student: – W1: have basic understanding of the place and importance of medieval architecture in Poland; – W2: knows the terminology used on the basis of archaeology, especially related sciences in the context of historical research on medieval architecture; – W3: have basic knowledge of the origins and forms and archaeology of the Middle Ages in Poland; – W4: understands the historical background and its significance for changes in architecture in Poland; – W5: have a basic knowledge of Romanesque and Gothic architecture in Poland. |
Efekty uczenia się - umiejętności: | Student: – U1: knows how to independently acquire knowledge and develop research skills by following the instructions tutor; – U2: characterized the concept of archaeology of architecture in medieval Poland; – U3: describes basic development of medieval architecture in Poland; – U4: describes the most interesting archaeological sites related to the topic; – U5: can independently acquire information and develop a research workshop under the guidance of a tutor; – U6: know how to use basic information technology, multimedia and Internet resources; – U7: is able to characterize the architecture of the Middle Ages in Poland; – U8: can prepare a long speech on issues related to the archaeology of medieval architecture in Poland. |

During the seminar will be discuss the most important medieval architecture in Poland. Special attention will return to the cultural and environmental factors affecting on the image and form of these objects |

During the seminar will be discuss problems concerning topography and nature in medieval Poland and their impact on settlement, the oldest examples of monumental architecture in medieval Poland –the defence architecture (castles, watchtowers), the sacral architecture (churches and monasteries) – their form and significance, and the problem of beginnings of the formation of medieval towns in Poland, on selected examples 1. Introduction to medieval architecture in Poland. 2. Topography and nature in medieval Poland and their impact on settlement. 3. The oldest examples of monumental architecture in medieval Poland. 4. Castles, watchtowers, mounds in medieval Poland. 5. The oldest churches and monasteries. Their form and significance. 6. The beginnings of the formation of medieval towns in Poland –on selected examples. 7. The origins of Gothic architecture – secular and sacred architecture. 8. Medieval defensive architecture in Poland – an example of the Teutonic Order. 9. Medieval port city in Poland – the structure and significance of Hanseatic cities. |

Assessment methods: – written essey; – activity. Assessment criteria: active participation during seminar, active participation in scientific trips, preparation of essay: fail – 5 pts (10%); satisfactory – 7 pts (15%); satisfactory plus – 9 pts (18%); good – 15 pts (25%); good plus – 25 pts (45%); very good – 45 pts (75%). |
