Efekty uczenia się - wiedza: | (tylko po angielsku) K_W03 - student acquires detailed knowledge about specific relations between international and domestic legal systems; K_W04 - student acquires in-dept knowledge of legal langue, as well as the knowledge of specific legal concepts of human rights law (especially with regard to relations between democracy, human rights and their evolving interpretations); K_W05 - student acquires detailed knowledge about subjects/actors of legal relations, how these relations are shaped; a deepened knowledge about human beings as subjects of these relations. |
Efekty uczenia się - umiejętności: | (tylko po angielsku) K_U01 - student is able to analyze and interpret different phenomenons in the domain of juridical sciences (specifically, a student is able to use acquired knowledge to critically analyze and present opinion concerning specific legal problems emerging from cultural diversity); K_U03 - student is able to analyze methods of dealing with specific problems and case-studies; K_U05- student is able to identify, interpret and apply legal norms (both international human rights standards, and domestic provisions) in order to resolve specific cases. |

(tylko po angielsku) Discussion seminar seeks to address theoretical and practical questions concerning multiculturalism and pluralism in Europe. The fundamental question we will try to discuss is as follows: Does diversity pose a threat to European identity and legal traditions, or rather on the contrary - enriches them. We will approach this question from the perspective of human rights standards. |

(tylko po angielsku) Discussion seminar covers the following points: 1. Introduction. What is pluralism and why it's important for human rights? Sources of diversity in Europe (definitions, migrations - historically and today) - 2 hours 2. Migration and refugee law - 2 hours 3. Rights of selected vulnerable groups, e.g. minorities, aliens (protection offered by the European Convention of Human Rights) - 3 hours 4. Protection of national and ethnic minorities in Europe - 2 hours 5. Religions and human rights - 2 hours 6. Tradition and human rights - 2 hours 7. Hate speech - 2 hours |

(tylko po angielsku) Assessment methods: Quizes (oral) – W1, W2, W3, W4 Project presentations – U1, U2, U3, W4, U4 Active participation (discussion, moot-court performance) – U1, U2, K1, K2, U3, K4 Assessment criteria: For all assessment methods points will be given and marks accordingly. 10-7 points – very good 6-5 points – good plus 4-3 points – good 3-2 points – satisfactory plus 1 point – satisfactory 0 points - fail |
