Skrócony opis: |
(tylko po angielsku) Biotechnology in medicine is the use of living cells and cell materials to research and produce pharmaceutical and diagnostic products that help treat and prevent human diseases |
Pełny opis: |
(tylko po angielsku) Biotechnology is the major technology of the twenty-first century and new medical treatments based on new biotechnology are appearing almost daily in the marketplace. The lectures helps students alike with the deciphering and use of biological knowledge. We explain the historical developments in biotechnology and also the impact of pharmaceuticals on human healthcare is an area where biotechnological innovations are likely to have the earliest commercial realization. We also discusses the innovations in molecular biology, genomics and proteomics, system biology and their impact on new biotechnology. We also examines medical biotechnology as the use of organisms and organisms-derived materials for research and to produce diagnostic and therapeutic products that help to treat and prevent human diseases. The course includes the following issues: Pharmaceuticals and biopharmaceuticals as recombinant protein drugs, recombinant vaccines and monoclonal antibodies - for therapeutic roles. Use of antibiotics as therapeutically and sometimes prophylatically in the control of infectious diseases. Monoclonal antibodies, modern vaccines and gene therapy as a major field in modern biotechnology, especially in the area of human health and fascinating developments achieved in the past decades as the impressive examples of an interdisciplinary interplay between medicine, biology and engineering as the largest commercially developed area of new biotechnology with massive present and future markets. |
