  • roczny wymiar godzinowy nakładu pracy studenta konieczny do osiągnięcia zakładanych efektów uczenia się dla danego etapu studiów wynosi 1500-1800 h, co odpowiada 60 ECTS;
  • tygodniowy wymiar godzinowy nakładu pracy studenta wynosi 45 h;
  • 1 punkt ECTS odpowiada 25-30 godzinom pracy studenta potrzebnej do osiągnięcia zakładanych efektów uczenia się;
  • tygodniowy nakład pracy studenta konieczny do osiągnięcia zakładanych efektów uczenia się pozwala uzyskać 1,5 ECTS;
  • nakład pracy potrzebny do zaliczenia przedmiotu, któremu przypisano 3 ECTS, stanowi 10% semestralnego obciążenia studenta.

W2. etiopathogenesis, clinical symptoms, course, treatment, prognosis and principles of nursing care for patients with selected diseases of old age. D.W2.

W3: Principles of nursing diagnosis and care planning for geriatric patients. D.W3.

W5. principles of preparing a geriatric patient for examinations and diagnostic procedures, as well as principles of care during and after these examinations and procedures. D.W5.

W7. nursing standards and procedures used in the care of an elderly patient (pressure ulcer standard, tube feeding, PEG and others). D.W7.

W8. patient's attitudes towards admission to hospital, diseases and ailments. D.W8.

W10. rules for the organization of specialist geriatric care. D.W10.

W12. tools and scales for nursing assessment of a geriatric patient, support for elderly people and their families, as well as basic principles and forms of rehabilitation. D.W12.


Efekty uczenia się - umiejętności:

U1. gather information, formulate a nursing diagnosis, set goals and a nursing care plan, implement nursing interventions, and evaluate nursing care. D.U1.

U2. to provide counseling in the field of self-care of geriatric patients. D.U2.

U3. prevent complications occurring in the course of diseases and the consequences of involutional changes resulting from age. D.U3.

U4. organize isolation of patients with infectious disease in hospital D.U4.

U5. Provide the patient with oxygen on an ad hoc basis and monitor his condition during oxygen therapy. D.U9.

U6. prepare the patient physically and mentally for diagnostic tests. D.U12.

U9. observe and document the patient's condition, nursing care, taking into account the available IT tools for data collection. D.U15.

U10. take part (and / or independently) in the selection of nursing and rehabilitation equipment and medical devices and teach the patient and his caregiver how to use it D.U16.

U11. in the elderly, provide enteral nutrition (through a feeding tube and nutritional fistula) and parenteral nutrition - D.U17.

U13. have a therapeutic conversation. D.U20.

U14. conduct basic bedside rehabilitation and improvement of daily activities. D.U21.

U15. to provide information to the members of the therapeutic team about the patient's health condition. D.U22.

U17. to assess the level of pain, the patient's response to pain and its severity, and apply pharmacological and non-pharmacological analgesia. D.U24.

U18. prepare and administer medications to patients in various ways, either on their own or on the doctor's orders. D.U26.

Geriatrics is a branch of medicine dealing with the physiological and pathological aspects of human aging and the clinical problems of old age. Goals of an Education:

-to provide an introduction into gerontology and geriatric medicine

-to teach students an effective work with old patients

-to update students on the current geriatric knowledge

Gerontology is an interdisciplinary science that deals with the aging of the human body. She investigates the physiological aspect of this phenomenon and the aspect of aging pathology. Geriatric nursing covers the issues of nursing elderly patients.

The student will acquire knowledge about the aging process of the organism in terms of its biological, psychological and socio-economic aspects, psychophysical differences, specificity of the course of diseases, treatment and care of elderly people. The student will learn the skills of nursing an elderly patient.

Geriatric nursing is a subject focusing on issues related to biopsychosocial problems of elderly patients with various diseases and in all stages of old age.

As part of the course, the student will get acquainted with the most common care problems of the elderly, use and supplement their knowledge by developing a nursing process.

Metody i kryteria oceniania: (tylko po angielsku)

100% attendance at classes and active participation, completing the skills provided in the program of classes. - preparation for classes in accordance with the applicable curriculum - preparation of geriatric issues during the classes - demonstrating a proper professional attitude

The condition for passing the lecture part is: 1. Attendance at lectures (one absent is allowed excused) 2. Passing each (even justified) absence in the form proposed by the person conducting the given topic.

Practical: Credit for skills based on direct observation of a student demonstrating skills with the use of evaluation criteria in accordance with the regulations and on the basis of the diary. Written credit for the nursing process based on the evaluation criteria. Oral statements.

Credit practical skills: W4, W5, W7, W8, W12, U1-6, U9-15, U17-18, K1-7

(Skill Effects - Skill Diary Credit: U1-U9)

Credit for self-education: W1, W2, W10, U1, U2- evaluation work.

Credit for practical placement: W2, W3, U1 - U10, K1-K7.

Final exam (1st and 2nd term) - - test of 30 questions (MCQ - one correct answer - 4 distractors) pass with obtaining more than 60% positive answers: W2,3,5,7,9,10,12,U9.

Assessment criteria:

Passing the final test according to the scale:

To the grade 5.0: the student is able to answer 92-100% of questions

For the grade 4.5, the student is able to answer 85-91% of the questions.

For the grade 4.0: the student is able to answer 78-84% of the questions.

For the grade 3.5: the student is able to answer 70-77% of the questions.

For the grade 3.0: the student is able to answer 61-69% of the questions.

Completion of the course: over 60% of points.

The grade in the subject is the average of the above.
