U_2: Students will develop their analytical skills, which is necessary for the critical evaluation of satire in various contexts. U_3: Students will be capable of comparing and contrasting various satirical genres. U_4: Students design their messages of political satire. U_5: Students categorise and characterise divergent types of political satire while evaluating their cultural and social implications. |

(tylko po angielsku) The course will focus on the social and cultural roles of contemporary political satire. We will explore televised and press as well as internet-based satire, focusing mainly on the European and American satirical spheres. |

(tylko po angielsku) Topics' proposals: 1. The last election in USA results: between frustration and comedy. 2. Tzar Nikolai, Stalin, Brezhnev, Jeltin, Putin and others - the satire on Russia issues. 3. The British tradition of political humour. 4. Let us visit The Kingdom of Memes. How the Internet changed the way of commenting on the political issues? 5. How do satirists preset the radical activists as a subject of satire? 6. The puppet show on television. 7. "Charlie Hebdo" issue. 8. Polish politics, Polish jokes. What is the subject of political satire in Poland and why Poles are the subject of humorous communication in other countries? 9. The censorship and the satire. 10. Media genres appropriate to present satirical content. |

Metody i kryteria oceniania: |
(tylko po angielsku) Students must read recommended texts (an obligation!), discuss the present issue in the classroom (30% of the grade), do some exercises on the Moodle platform (40%) and write the final essay (30%). Two absences per semester are allowed. |
