Social support and crisis intervention seem to be useful tools and skills not only among professionals but also in informal support, which most often become the first stage and form of support provided. |

Today’s reality causes a number of difficult situations in a human’s life, which they try to deal with on his own. People usually search help from their loved ones first, and only then goes to specialist. The proposed student’s conversation centre provides an opportunity to learn about the basic and possible ways of providing informal help to the closest people. Knowledge of the basic psychological aspects of support and crisis intervention will sometimes allow solving a difficult situation and working out remedial methods. The topic raised in classes: 1. Social support and crisis intervention theory 2. Interpersonal communication in practice 3. Selected difficult situations and support techniques: 3.1. Crisis and conflicts in communication – how to cope with them? 3.2. Long-term disease – how to support adult people with illnesses? 3.3. Children and long-term disease – how to support them, when parents are ill 3.4. Death and grief in the family 3.5. Suicide – basic of crisis intervention. What to avoid? 3.6. Selected mental diseases and personality disorders 3.7. Compassion in difficult situation |
