The course examines the history of British literature from Romanticism to the Victorian period. The course focuses on the literary texts forming the canon of British literature, placing them in their historical and theoretical contexts. The students will examine selected works of poetry and fiction, using basic literary concepts and referring to biographical and historical sources.

The course examines the history of British literature from the 18th to mid-19th century, including the beginnings of the novel, the Gothic novel, Romantic poetry and fiction, the early and mid-Victorian fiction and poetry. The course focuses on the literary texts forming the canon of British literature, placing them in their historical and theoretical contexts.
