Efekty uczenia się - wiedza: | (tylko po angielsku) The student W1: has the basic knowledge of the terminology and methods of cultural studies (K_W07) W2: has the basic knowledge of selected historical, social and political contexts of Anglophone cultures in the intercultural perspective (K_W12). |
Efekty uczenia się - umiejętności: | (tylko po angielsku) The student U1: is able to gain and deepen their knowledge and develop their research skills in the field of cultural studies (K_U08). U2: displays argumentation skills and is able to refer to scholars’ opinions as well as to draw conclusions in the field of cultural studies (K_U16). U3: is able to conduct a preliminary search of library holdings, use databases and the Internet, prepare a list of references, add notes with due care as to the copyright, format documents using a word processor and make a presentation in the field of cultural studies (K_U17). |

(tylko po angielsku) The seminar explores selected tendencies in the Anglophone cultures (particularly in popular culture), introducing the concepts and theories employed in this field of study. |

(tylko po angielsku) The seminar examines the methods of studying culture and the selected aspects of popular culture in Anglophone countries. The students learn how to analyse cultural artefacts, read the critical texts on Anglophone cultures and apply acquired skills and knowledge in practice. The seminar covers the following aspects and phenomena: popular fiction, visual culture, popular music, subculture and counterculture as well as fan fiction. 1. Introduction (syllabus, learning outcomes, requirements). 2. Popular culture – theoretical contexts. 3. Popular fiction (x2) 4. Advertising, visual culture (x2) 5. Popular music (x2). 6. Music video (x2). 7. Subculture (x2). 8. Fandom and fan fiction (x2). 9. Written assignment feedback. |
