  • roczny wymiar godzinowy nakładu pracy studenta konieczny do osiągnięcia zakładanych efektów uczenia się dla danego etapu studiów wynosi 1500-1800 h, co odpowiada 60 ECTS;
  • tygodniowy wymiar godzinowy nakładu pracy studenta wynosi 45 h;
  • 1 punkt ECTS odpowiada 25-30 godzinom pracy studenta potrzebnej do osiągnięcia zakładanych efektów uczenia się;

W1: has in-depth knowledge of the grammar and vocabulary of the language/ languages at an advanced level. (K_W02)

W2: knows the principles of interpreting LSP texts (K_W03)

W3: has in-depth knowledge of the differences between the conventions used in Polish and English non-literary texts in the areas of the structure of the text, register, formulaic language structures (K_W13)


Efekty uczenia się - umiejętności:

U1: is able to interpret a variety of texts (e.g. speeches, presentations) (K_U03, K_U04, K_U17)

U2: is able to interpret from Polish into English and from English into Polish a variety of texts using various interpreting techniques (K_U05)

U3: is able to interpret from Polish into English and from English into Polish a variety of texts using various interpreting equipment (K_U16)

Efekty uczenia się - kompetencje społeczne:

K1: is aware of the the level of their linguistic and extralinguistic knowledge in Polish and in English, is aware of the need to develop this knowledge to interpret a variety of texts from Polish into English and from English into Polish (K_K01).

K2: is able to apply in practice ethical standards binding in the translator’s profession, starting from accepting the assignment (task commencement) until interpreting performance (task completion). (K_K07)

K3: is able to interpret a variety of texts that enable them to pursue a professional career (as a conference interpreter) (K_K08)

The course focuses on discussing the specificity of interpreting and aims at acknowledging students with interpreting techniques and strategies. Students’ activities during the course consist in interpreting texts with the use of the following techniques: simultaneous interpreting, consecutive interpreting, a vista interpreting, liaison and chuchotage interpreting (on the C1 level).

Classes may be held online.

The course focuses on discussing the specificity of interpreting and aims at acknowledging students with interpreting techniques and strategies. Students’ activities during the course consist in interpreting texts with the use of the following techniques:simultaneous interpreting, consecutive interpreting, a vista interpreting, liaison and chuchotage interpreting (on the C1 level). Students are to develop their interpreting workshop, note-taking techniques, working strategies and conference interpreter’s workshop. In-class exercises consist in interpreting texts from Polish into English and vice versa, individual or pair-work and discussing strategies applied.

List of topics:

• interpreting techniques and strategies

• preparing short speeches

• preparing miniconferences

• interpreting texts on a variety of topics (individual projects)

• simulating interpreter-client relations in the professional context

• presentations

Metody i kryteria oceniania: (tylko po angielsku)

A graded credit on the basis of the assignments assessing the level of achieving particular learning outcomes.

Assessment criteria: the student’s activity is evaluated during interpreting classes (also in the form of feedback from the teacher)

The final interpreting test - subject to evaluation - consists in consecutive interpreting (a vista interpreting) of a randomly selected text in Polish or in English out of a spectrum of thematic fields within the area of studies.
