The successful completion of the first two semesters.

The completion of a 120 hour teaching practice is a preferred teaching context.

Contact hours with the teacher:

- Participation in classes –30 hrs

Self-study hours:

- Preparation for classes, tests and exam– 20 hrs

Altogether: 50 hrs (2 ECTS)

The student:

W1: has more advanced knowledge of applied linguistics (glottodidactics) and the related terminology(K_W03)

The student:

U1: can comprehend glottodidactic texts in English (K_U02)

U2: can work and follow the goals and guidelines formulated by the teacher and the mentor (K_U07)

U3: can work in a group taking on different roles (K_U08)

The student:

K1: is aware of the level of their knowledge and skills, understands the need for continuous training and development (K_K01)

K2: displays and active and indepenent attitude while taking up typical professional teacher activities (teaching practice) in school situations (K_K05)

Moodle platform will the basic repository of class materials and channel through which homework will be submitted.

The classes will consolidate the knowledge and skills relating to the practice of English language teaching and relate to the students' own teaching experience.

The course content reflects the knowledge, teaching skills and soft skills enumerated in the Ministry of Science and Higher Education ordinance.

Content

- effective teaching of foreign languages (an overview)

- linguistic communication: knowledge, skill and discourse

- 12 psychological principles of effective education (incl. emotions, motivation and memory and learning strategies) (optional)

- the role of autonomy in learning and language learning strategies, flipped classroom

- specific individual differences in learning and teaching a foreign language and success in language learning (multilingual student and his place in Polish schools, gifted students, students with disabilities)

- Content and Language Integrated Learning

- project work and problem-solving activities

- ICT resources

Assessment of materials prepared by the students and exam U1, W1

Observation of class-work and presentations of practical tasks K2, K3, U4, U2

Assessment criteria:

practical tasks (50 %)

theory: exam (50%)

60%-71% = 3.

72%-76% = 3+

77%-84% = 4.

85%-90% = 4+

91%-100% = 5

In order to pass the course a student has to attend the classes regularly apart from fulfilling the requirements presented above. In case of missing classes a student is obliged to excuse their absence immediately.

One hundred and twenty hour teaching practice is required by the end of the studies; preferably, it should be completed before this semester; see it USOS description in Praktyki pedagogiczne 2500-s2NA2-PP

In 2020/2021, the class is conducted remotely with the use of remote teaching and testing methods, primarily through the Moodle platform and MS Teams.
