(tylko po angielsku) The aim of the course is to introduce students to basic problems, concepts and theories relating to the process of language acquisition in the first (native) and a second (or foreign) language and to relate them to one's self-reflection on their own processes. |

(tylko po angielsku) Winter semester (Content distribution): The course in this semester will discuss the differences between learning and language acquisition, the process of first and second language acquisition. In the context of individual learner variables, the learning strategies (direct and indirect) will be discussed as introduction to the course. Specific content: The first language acquisition in the 1st year Theories of first language acquisition and second language learning (such as: - behaviorism - cognitivism - innatism - constructivism - Krashen's Monitor Model - interactionism - information processing - connectionism - competition model - noticing hypothesis Basic concepts, e.g: - bilingualism - critical period - interlanguage - universal grammar - immersion etc. |

(tylko po angielsku) Evaluation Methods - Active participation in classes (W1, U1, U2, U3, K1) - Preparation for classes (U3) - Completion of the tasks on moodle (K1) - Final exam in 2 parts (as 2 tests) (W1, W2, U2) The exam grade will be given in reference to the following scale: 60%-71% = 3. 72%-76% = 3+ 77%-84% = 4. 85%-90% = 4+ 91%-100% = 5. The students are evaluated in accordance with the university regulations, and they must attend all course meetings. Informed participation in class discussions – based on completion of the assigned reading and supportive collaboration with classmates – is also required. Each class absence has to be excused in the first week after the lesson missed. The final grade percentage will be reduced by 10% for every unexcused absence. |
