Biophysics is an interdisciplinary field that utilizes methods and techniques from Physics to understand fundamental phenomena in biology. This course aims to give students a deep understanding of the relevant physical principles for biological systems, introduce them to state-of-the art experimental and theoretical techniques of biophysics.

Outline of the lectures:

1. Physical basics of diagnostic imaging: Computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), (Doppler) ultrasonography (USG), positron emission tomography (PET)

2. Electromagnetic field- sources, measurements, health hazard and use in biomedicine

3. Electrical phenomena in organisms. Modification of the nervous system by natural toxins.
