The aim of the lecture is to present the definition of energy security (its deepening and expanding aspects), as well as to assess the energy security of European states and the European Union. The aim is also to identify challenges and threats (internal and external) to energy security, as well as to show examples of cooperation in this area.

The aim of the course is to discuss the issue of energy security in individual countries and regions of Europe as well as in the European Union itself. Analysis of issues relating to the security of energy supplies, as well as social, environmental and market security aspects. It will also indicate the threats and challenges facing the energy security of individual countries.

• Politics of international actors as a challenge to the European energy security (China, the United States)

• Current and future challenges for the European energy security

LECTURE:

Written exam, consisting of two elements:

1) test of 20 questions (20 points) consisting of single and multiple choice questions – K1-K6, SC1, SC2

2) description and analysis of an issue relating to energy security in Europe to be written – 10 points – S1, S2, SC1

Total points to get 30.

• 51-61% - points: 16-18 - grade: 3

• 62-71% - points: 19-21 – grade: 3+

• 72-81% - points: 22-24 – grade: 4

• 82-91% - points: 25-27 – grade: 4+

• 92-100% - points: 28-30 –grade: 5

CLASSES:

Assessment based on the collected points for

1) preparation for classes – presentation of the current energy security event and analysis of its impact on the security of the country or region in question (30 points) – S1, S2.

2) presentation of the analyzed case study (40 points) – K1-K4.

3) group tasks to be developed in class (30 points) – S1, S2, SC1, SC2
