  • tygodniowy wymiar godzinowy nakładu pracy studenta wynosi 45 h;
  • 1 punkt ECTS odpowiada 25-30 godzinom pracy studenta potrzebnej do osiągnięcia zakładanych efektów uczenia się;
  • tygodniowy nakład pracy studenta konieczny do osiągnięcia zakładanych efektów uczenia się pozwala uzyskać 1,5 ECTS;

Understanding how the political systems work, what are the similarites and differences between different western democraies.

Reading newspapers and comprahending listenings and short movies in English.

Understanding and practical usage of English vocabulary and collocations in the topic of political studies

Skrócony opis:

The aim of the course is (1) to introduce students with the basic concepts and categories that form the political systems of western democracies and to get them acknowledged with some examples of how these democracies function; (2) to improve their knowledge of the English vocabulary in political science and to improve their self-confidence in using English in communication.

Metody i kryteria oceniania:

• Attendance – a student may be absent twice during the semester (regardless of the reason), the third absence must be made up for during office hours (a discussion on the topic), if there is a forth absence all of them must be made up for during office hours. Above four absences the student fails the course.

• Active participation in class assignments and class discussions

• Preparing a presentation of a chosen country

• At the end of the course (last meeting) there is going to be a test that covers basic concepts discussed in the class and information on the countries the students chose.
