  • roczny wymiar godzinowy nakładu pracy studenta konieczny do osiągnięcia zakładanych efektów uczenia się dla danego etapu studiów wynosi 1500-1800 h, co odpowiada 60 ECTS;
  • tygodniowy wymiar godzinowy nakładu pracy studenta wynosi 45 h;
  • 1 punkt ECTS odpowiada 25-30 godzinom pracy studenta potrzebnej do osiągnięcia zakładanych efektów uczenia się;
  • tygodniowy nakład pracy studenta konieczny do osiągnięcia zakładanych efektów uczenia się pozwala uzyskać 1,5 ECTS;

W1: has basic knowledge about extreme weather events and is able to term and recognize few of them;

W2: raises its awareness regarding the extremes in different parts of the world and knows reasons of them.

Student

U1: compares worldwide extremes with his country/region and tries to asses on how hazardous they are.

U2: tires to transform a scientific information by a community-based adaptation into a society-friendly language in order to raise their extremes awareness.

K2: speaks in English

K3: gathers information from numerous sources and prepares its own work.

Skrócony opis:

Since severe weather conditions hit the contemporary societies more and more, and are of the global treat, these extremes need better understanding, especially towards their havoc nature and landscape changes. This course presents and classifies new components of the environment, which result from extreme events worldwide, and further sheds a new light.

NOTE: Lecture is CANCELLED in 2024! You are welcome in 2025!

1. Surrounded by extremes: why do some societies in the world are more prone to hazards than others?

1. Climatic scenarios versus unsafe conditions in the land.

2. Coming from the sea: tsunamis and storms.

3. Coming from the precipitation: mass wasting.

4. Coming from the air: sand and dust storms.

5. Extremes versus societal awareness: Does it led to a greater recognition?

Assessment methods:

- final assignment: “Extreme weather in my country/region, and its impact on environment components”. Student prepares its own super convincing project/work at the end of course – 80% of final note (W1–2; U1–U2; K1–K3)

- active participation in classes – 20% of final note (W1–2; U1–2; K1–2)

Assessment criteria:

fail- 0-51%

satisfactory- 52-65%

satisfactory plus- 66-75%

good - 76-89%

good plus- 90-94%

very good- 95-100%
